What we check
Accessibility
- Missing alternative text on images and icons
- Text contrast below 4.5:1
- Form fields and buttons without labels
- Page language, titles, heading and list structure
- ARIA mistakes, keyboard traps, zoom disabled
- Touch target size (new in WCAG 2.2)
Cookies and consent
- Google Analytics, Google Ads, Meta Pixel, TikTok, Hotjar, Clarity, LinkedIn and more
- Which of them load before the visitor agrees
- Cookies set before consent
- Whether a consent banner exists at all
- Whether rejecting is possible on the first layer
- Google Fonts and video embeds loaded from third-party servers
Automated tests cannot find every barrier. Things like meaningful alt text, a logical reading order or keyboard use in complex widgets need a human check. Our report says clearly which parts need manual review.
An audit instead of an overlay
Overlay widgets put a toolbar on top of your page. The code underneath stays the same. We show you where to fix it.
| Overlay widget | CheckEAA | |
|---|---|---|
| Changes your code | No | Shows the exact fix |
| Checks cookie consent | No | Yes, before any click |
| Report for your developer | Rarely | PDF with WCAG and EN 301 549 |
| Tracks progress | No | Weekly scan and history |

Frequently asked questions
Does a good score mean my website is compliant?
No. CheckEAA is an automated audit. It finds many common issues, but not all of them, and it does not replace a manual review or legal advice. Use the report as a work list to find and fix issues.
What is the European Accessibility Act?
Directive (EU) 2019/882 of 17 April 2019 sets accessibility requirements for certain products and services. Germany implemented it with the Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz (BFSG), which applies to services provided to consumers after 28 June 2025, including e-commerce.
Does it apply to my business?
The BFSG covers, among others, e-commerce services for consumers, consumer banking, telecommunication services and e-books. Microenterprises that provide services (fewer than 10 employees and annual turnover or balance sheet of at most EUR 2 million) are exempt from the service requirements under § 3 (3) BFSG. Please check your case with a lawyer.
What does the cookie check test exactly?
We load your page in a fresh browser without clicking anything. We record which tracking tools connect and which cookies exist at that moment, whether a consent banner shows up, and whether it offers a reject option on the first layer.
Why do you not offer an accessibility overlay widget?
An overlay adds a toolbar on top of your page but leaves the underlying code unchanged. We show you where the problem sits in your code and how to fix it there.
Can I cancel at any time?
Yes. You cancel in your dashboard with one click, no email to support needed. Your plan stays active until the end of the paid period. Within 14 days of your first payment you can request a full refund without giving a reason.
Who handles payment and invoices?
Paddle.com acts as our Merchant of Record. Paddle processes the payment, issues the invoice and handles VAT.
How accessible is your website?
Free, no account, about 30 seconds.
